Toyota Motor Corp. will increase the range of hybrid vehicles with the launch of the Prius C hatchback subcompact which will go on sale in March.
Toyota says the Prius C will consume fuel 53 mpg in the city, which claimed to be the most economical fuel consumption for urban vehicle that is not the kind of plug-ins.
Generally, hybrid vehicles speeding on the highway with fuel consumption of at least 46 mpg, while Prius C 50 mpg for combined road conditions.
Prius C is built based on the Yaris platform, will be released to the American market at a price of around 19,000 U.S. dollars, not including destination charge.
Prius C has a wheelbase 6 inches shorter than the existing Yaris, and overall 19 inches shorter, with lighter weight than the standard Prius.

Toyota Prius C is released at a lower price to attract younger buyers who are looking for value and fuel-efficient vehicles for their first car.
Prius C variant will also have a wagon that is the Prius V will be launched in late 2011, and Plug-In Prius that drove this summer.
