Tada san did not say when the 86 GT Roadster will be introduced. He also did not state whether the two other models (Toyota Scion and Subaru FR-S BRZ) will also be released with a convertible version. ALTHOUGH convertible vehicle market has a smaller market segment than the sports car version of the coupe, Toyota does not seem to want to let alone master the successful Mazda roadster segment.
86 GT model's chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada said the company was working on developing a model-based GT open roof 86. "GT 86 has been redesigned from scratch to be built as a convertible model," said Tada.
