Earlier, Tata Motors has showcased the air car concept, called the Tata AirCar. Now, MiniCAT present as a production model and will be ready for sale in India after the official launch.
Indian manufacturer Tata Motors have a surprise for the development of cars powered by compressed air.
Tata Motors said the car with the name of MiniCAT. Rumors, the air car will be launched in August of 2012. Tata Motors claims, MiniCat will be one of zero-emission vehicles being able to operate only with compressed air.
MiniCAT has been developed in conjunction with the former IndyCar engine expert Guy Negre with the company Motor Development International. Tata Motors officials said that the fuel in the car is only a small electric power to drive the compressor engine.
MiniCAT uses air pressure moving the piston motor has zero emissions and are disposed in the exhaust. Start the car with compressed air is not a new concept.
Many car manufacturers have tried this technology, but no one has succeeded because it was considered inefficient. Most, mobol prototype production model was launched but did not appear.
