General Motors said it will focus more on the development of plug-in hybrids and pure electric than eternal rival Toyota, which is enjoying a conventional hybrid market. GM product chief Mary Barra said, with a narrow target of the future, we try to maintain the position of the flagship models of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid. GM also plans to show an electric Spark in the event the Los Angeles Auto Show, which opened 28 November this.

"The main focus of GM's electrification strategy for plug-in that will change the way people travel and the desire is great potential energy has the ability to fill in their own homes," Berra told Autonews beber (14/11/2012).

Explained, he has been working with global teams in recent months to focus. Previously, GM looks confused where to go to catch up some powertrain technology, but this step is considered to be too extravagant. "We need to educate the most promising technologies which create value for consumers and our company," beber Barra.

Conventional hybrid technology, this time completely dominated the Toyota. "It's important., But we think the technology plug-in will be very important in the next few years later," said Barra.

In addition to focusing on two models of the technology, GM also intends to develop a technology called "eAssist mild-hybrid". The concept is similar to conventional hybrids, only use the battery size and smaller motors to assist the performance of the machine under certain conditions.

EAssist technology can not only rely on the vehicles electric motors, but it can increase fuel efficiency by 25 percent. This technology is already embedded in the Buick LaCrosse, which was launched last year. Also been applied to the Buick Regal and Chevrolet Malibu, following the latest generation Chevrolet Impala ready to be launched early next year.
