Japanese glass manufacturer Asahi Glass Co (AGC) has completed a new product line of tempered glass front window with a product called UV Verre Premium Cool, which is touted as the first product that can hold approximately 99% of UV radiation as well as infra-red rays.
AGC combines a number of technologies in the glass material, layering and application of chemicals to produce UV Verre Premium Cool. During testing, the tempered glass was successfully preserve the cabin temperature 2 degrees Celsius lower than other products tempered.
AGC says that the product is able to keep the investment results in skin surface temperature at a temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius, while the other models the skin surface temperature reached 41.4 degrees Celsius.
The new product is based on glass UV Verre Premium, which was launched in 2010 and is capable of holding 99% of UV rays (based on ISO 9050) and has been adopted in 15 car models.
In the Premium version of the Cool, AGC has added another layer that could absorb infrared rays, while strengthening the structure so it will not scratch the glass when the window is opened or closed.
