First electric cars taken by Police Department


Lisbon -Portugal is one of the pioneers in electric cars in Europe. Portugal was the first country to build a charging network in some cities the size. And is the first country to sell Nissan LEAF in 2011.

A brand of the car so a fleet of taxis? That's unusual, but to be a police car was a bit unusual, because of course the car should have a spec that can 'catch' criminals.

Nissan LEAF color, is now growing again. After having appendage color 'green' because it is environmentally friendly, LEAF now has a blue and white because of a police car Portugal.

And history has recorded LEAF as the first electric car into a police car.

According to Nissan, there are 8 car LEAF will be operated by the Policia de Segurança Publica (PSP). PSP will be on duty in urban areas.

"We are proud to be the world's first police use electric cars as part of a fleet of 5,000 units of the police car," said Superintendent Paul PSP National Director Gomes Valente Hybrid Cars reported on Thursday (7/12/2012).
