In 2009, organizers of the exhibition have even cut costs by 70 percent so that the show can still be held but no financial burden cars, especially European car companies, the middle of a crisis. Even so, the committee was reluctant to reduce the scale of the exhibition.


"As a result of the economic situation, importers and suppliers in the automotive industry is under enormous pressure," said Olaf de Bruijn, director AutoRAI.

This year, the event was visited by 270,000 people registered visitors. Meanwhile, the cost to attend the car show itself ranges between 100000-1000000 euro and next year AutoRAI scheduled to be held on 3 April to 14 April.


The financial crisis that hit Europe has not fully recovered. This crisis touches many areas including automotive. Even the exhibition Amsterdam Motor Show which will be held next year to be canceled due to the crisis.

Amsterdam International Motor Show or commonly called AutoRAI by real local people is a regular event held. However, due to the lack of interest of car manufacturers due to declining auto sales because of the crisis makes this show had to be canceled for the next calendar year.

The project manager for this exhibition, Joost 't Hooft, told Automotive News Europe that many car companies are not willing to commit to participating in this event during the current economic climate is still like this.

"We regret that we had to disappoint fans of the car in the Netherlands. We know that many people who look forward to AutoRAI. For the future we hope to modify the structure of the show," said Hooft.

Hooft further explained that the economic crisis that hit the world since 2008 has actually been tried anticipated by the committee.
