The Real Baby-Benz's legendary compact sedan


It's its popularity around the world through the term 'Baby-Benz ". Since then, all cars bearing the 'three-pointed star' called 'Baby-Benz ". Though the nickname is true only for the model 190 or W201.

For fans who still remember, November 1982 is the month in which Mercedes-Benz first entered the compact segment 30 years ago through the W201 models known as the 190E or "Baby-Benz".

Legendary compact sedan was designed by Bruno Sacco and brings multi-link rear suspension that was originally gasoline-powered 2.0-liter 88 hp to 190 and 120 hp models for model 190E.

In 1983, this vehicle is an additional model of the four-cylinder diesel engine 71 hp on the model 190 D and 190E 2.3-16 sporty models are powered by a four-cylinder 16-valve powered 182 hp.

Several years later, compact Mercedes sedan lineup is growing culminated in 1988 with the presence of a compact sports sedan 190E 2.5-16 capable of producing power 192 hp and produces 232 hp final development through Evolution models.
