create a best and most suitable suspension system for electric cars

Let's create a best and most suitable suspension system for electric cars.

Regenerative braking is now a popular choice in electric cars to save energy. Now similar technology will catch up, but this time utilizing work vehicle shock absorbers, called by regenerative supension.

The technology was developed by ZF and Levant Power. The ultimate goal is to create a suspension system that combines the advantages of the normal use of suspension and modest power consumption, minimal complexity, as well as a more affordable price.

Showing the technology base for example, regenerative suspension unit has been mounted on a suspension. The tool has a control device, an electric motor and an electrohydraulic pump. This pump which controls the oil flow in suspension, easily adapt to driving conditions. This system also makes it possible to increase the height of each wheel vehicle.

Openness is utilizing innovative piston shocks to restore energy stored in the electric motor acts as a generator. The kinetic power savings will be converted into electrical energy directly to electric car engine generator.

"We are still working on this together with the Levant Power. Finally was developed for the first time in the world, a regenerative active suspension, making it ready before mass production, prior to the launch," said Rolf Ruger Heinz, Head Suspension Technology business unit of ZF Car Chassis Technology division, as reported Autoguide (28/08/2013).
